TicketMaster buys TicketsNow
A couple days ago, ticketmaster, the primary ticket giant, acquired ticketsnow. TicketsNow is a huge player in the secondary market, and they are second only to StubHub in total revenue.
Many speculate that this merger spells the end for all ticket brokers. Many believe that ticketmasters intent is to squeeze ticket brokers and ticket broker websites out of the industry. Ticketmaster says that they will share future revenue with venues, promoters, and other and brokers. I wouldn't hold my breath. Ticketmaster has never been number one on anybody's Christmas list. In fact I am pretty sure that the fat man himself gave them a big lump of coal this past holiday. They don't play nice, and this acquisition, while nice for TicketsNow, does nothing but make all the little brokers out there squirm and rethink their strategy.
